Our eyes are one of the most important organs of our body, and yet we pay very little attention and care to it. It is quite essential to take proper care of our eyes as having problems with our vision can prevent us from doing many activities in our lives. Most of us take eyes for granted and only when we get affected by something we know the real pain. The following are some of the basic things you can do to take care of your eyes.

Eat healthily:

Eating healthy will make your eyes healthy. Vitamin A is very good for eyes, and it helps in preventing all the degenerative muscular problems and other old age related issues. You can consider eating food which is rich in omega-3 fatty acids, vitamin A, C and E. One of the best sources of vitamin A is carrots. Carrots are very easily available, and they are also rich in beta-carotene which is very good for your eyes.

Fill your plate with green and leafy vegetables like spinach, broccoli. You can also eat fishes like tuna, salmon which is very high in omega-3 fatty acids. Consider eating citrus fruits like oranges, amla and grapefruit.

Protect your eyes from the sun:

The ultraviolet rays from the sun are incredibly harmful to your eyes; especially if you happen to live in a tropical country, you must wear sunglasses which has a protective coat that prevents the UV rays from entering our eyes. If you expose your eyes too much to the sun, you might get cataracts at a later stage in life.

Do not stare at your computer screen all day:

We will in a world where most of our life dwells in front of the computer. Most of us have jobs which require us to sit in front of the computer screen all day long. Quite often we strain our eyes and take no action. It is highly recommended that you visit an eye doctor if you happen to have a strain in your eyes.

Try to move your eyes once a while so that you do not strain it too much. You can also use an anti-glare screen for your computer. Also, choose a comfortable chair to sit so that you don’t strain your back and try to make sure that you blink once a while and provide at least 30 minutes of rest to your eyes. You can consider taking a break and exercising so that you will feel refreshed.

Use proper lighting:

Do not work in an environment which has a poor lighting facility. When there is not enough light, you tend to strain your eyes. Also, do not sit in a place with high-intensity light as that can also damage your eyesight.
